Not booked your photoshoot yet? Don’t worry, just click the button below, fill in your details and I will be in touch ASAP!
The first thing to say is this is one of the most common questions I get asked as a professional studio photographer.
The second thing to say is “Don’t panic”. I can help you!
After photographing clients for many years, I can guide you on your wardrobe choices for you and your family. So you know you will look great, but still retain your individual style.
Here are my top tips tips on what to wear to your studio photoshoot with Fairy Nuff Photography:
- Choose clothes that fit well and flatter your figure. Avoid anything too tight or too loose, and make sure your clothes are well ironed, neat and have no stains.
- Stick to solid colours or subtle patterns. Avoid busy prints or logos, as these can be distracting in photos. Also avoid fine checks, herringbone and dotted patterns as this can cause colour distortion in your images.
- Think about the mood you want to create. If you want your photos to be classic and elegant, you might want to wear a dress or suit. If you want your photos to be more casual and fun, you might want to wear jeans and a t-shirt.
- Don’t be tempted to wear identical clothes – that’s boring! Instead look for harmonising styles and colours such as soft greys, creams, light blue, light mint green – look towards the pastel palette of colours for inspiration.
- Be comfortable in what you are wearing. You will be more relaxed and confident in front of the camera if you are wearing something you feel good in.
Here are some specific outfit ideas for a studio photography session:
- For women: A dress or skirt in a solid colour or subtle pattern. A blouse or sweater with jeans or chinos.
- For men: A button-down shirt and chinos in a solid colour or subtle pattern. A t-shirt and jeans for a more casual look.
More tips:
- Bring a variety of options to choose from. This will give you more flexibility and allow you to choose the perfect outfit for the mood and setting of your shoot.
- Ask your photographer for advice. Show me your outfits! Send me screen shots of what you are thinking of buying. I am always happy to help you.
- Accessorise with jewellery, scarves, or hats. These can add a touch of personality to your outfit and really showcase your personalities.
- Consider having your hair and makeup done professionally. This will help you look your best in photos and give you more confidence in front of the camera. It is also a good excuse to have your nails done too!
