Your Family Photographer in Nottingham
family PHOTOGRAPHY
I love doing outdoor family photography, particularly with children and dogs! Let’s relax and have some fun whilst we capture every detail of your relationships. Whether it is messy in mud and puddles, climbing trees, exploring woods or just holding hands in the meadows. Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire are blessed with stunning countryside, from deep forests to wildflower meadows to lakes and stately homes, there is a perfect outdoor family photoshoot backdrop just waiting for you.

PHOTOS TO TREASURE
I had an outdoor photoshoot of me my son and partner and words cannot explain how happy and amazed I am with my photos I received today! Debbie is an amazing lady and very creative with her ideas and the photos truly speak for themselves. We had so much fun on our photo session and felt so at ease. She captured my little boy perfectly and I now have photos to treasure for a life time! Thankyou so much!

YOUR family PHOTOGRAPHY
Of course we can’t always rely on the British weather, so I am pleased to also offer the option of a studio setting for your family photoshoot, which is conveniently located just off the M1 in Nottingham.
My studio family photography sessions focus on you and those you love, with no distractions. I use beautiful, professional standard backdrops and am happy to discuss your ideas, colour schemes, poses and props to customise your images to your taste and home decor.
After all, you will want to hang these precious memories on your walls and I offer beautiful hand made wall art that is designed to match your style and show off your family photographs to their very best.
THRILLED
We would highly recommend Debbie. We booked an outdoor family photo shoot with her. She came to our house beforehand to discuss what we wanted and different location options and kept in communication with us by email. The photo shoot was brilliant and she made sure everyone was relaxed and enjoyed the experience. Today, we have chosen our photos and we are beyond thrilled with the photos we have. Thanks, Debbie.
YOUR QUESTIONS
Whenever you like! There are times in the year when my diary gets very busy and weekends are always the first dates to be booked for these sessions. So if you need a weekend session book well in advance to secure your date.
If you are considering an outdoors session have a think about your favourite season and the colours.
– Spring and early Summer are all about blossoms, flowers and greenery with golden warm light.
– Autumn is really popular with all those crisp reds, browns, oranges and yellows… plus leaf throwing is so much fun!
– Winter gives low, gentle light with misty and overcast days. Sometimes if we are really lucky we might even get snow!
If you have booked an outdoor photography session I will be checking the weather forecast on the days leading up to your date. On most occasions we can proceed with a session even if the weather is cloudy or damp. However, on those occasions where the weather is severe or dangerous I will contact you to consider alternative options.
These may include swapping to a studio session or rescheduling your session to another mutually agreeable date.
I would always recommend that you wear something you are comfortable in. If you are a relaxed, jean wearing family then that is what you should wear. If you prefer a more glamorous look then that is what we will create.
As a general rule:
– Make sure that clothes are well fitting, ironed and neat.
– I recommend neutral colours, like soft greys, blues, pastel pinks, cream for families. Don’t be tempted to wear identical outfits and colours, instead think about harmonising the colour choices to each other and the environment you are going to.
– Do feel free to add accessories! A statement necklace, a coloured scarf, hats, hair clips… they can really show off your personalities.
– We would also recommend that outfits do not have logos, strong prints, fine patterns/checks and that colours compliment each other.
Have a look at my blog for more helpful tips on what to wear for your session.

As part of our pre consultation we will go through what items you should bring that are specific to your session, but a few general items are:
– Spare shoes/clothes for everyone…. just in case!
– Hairbrush
– Wipes for faces, hands, clothes, shoes… everything!
– Non messy treats for children (and the dog)! Think Haribo rather than Wotsits, breadsticks rather than chocolate.
– Picnic blanket
– Toys for children… a favourite teddy, a wooden train, a favourite book and bubbles! Everyone loves blowing bubbles!
– If a dog is joining us bring a squeaky toy or a favourite food treat to get their attention.
There are a few things you can do prior to the session, which will help everything run as smoothly as possible.
– Talk to your children about the session, where they are going to and what they might find there. For example if it is a studio session you might want to let them know about my big lights that flash to take their photos. If it is outdoors tell them where it is – is it a forest? A lake? A meadow? Make it a happy experience to look forward to as a family.
– Prepare clothes, shoes and accessories well in advance.
– Ideally make sure everyone has a good night sleep and is feeling healthy and well.
– Make sure that everyone has eaten and feel free to bring non messy snacks and drinks.
